What Are CEREC Same-Day Dental Crowns?

CEREC, which stands for Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics, is a technology our team uses in-office to create custom dental restorations in a single visit. It brings together a digital impression system, CAD/CAM design software, and an on-site milling machine to streamline the entire process. Same-day crowns are a practical option for repairing damage or decay when you want quality care without multiple appointments. Of course, you should consult our team to confirm if this is a good treatment option for your unique needs.

The Process of Getting a CEREC Same-Day Dental Crown

Like a traditional crown, we will start by gently preparing your natural tooth, reshaping it, and removing a small portion of enamel to create space for the restoration. We will use a local anesthetic to ensure that you’re pain-free during your visit.

Instead of messy putty, our team will take a digital impression of your teeth and send it to our in-office system, where it guides a milling unit that creates your custom crown from a solid block of ceramic, zirconia, or porcelain. Around an hour afterward, the restoration is crafted to blend with the size, shape, and color of your natural tooth.

Once it’s ready, we’ll place the crown to check the fit and make any necessary small adjustments. After confirming that the results are to your satisfaction, we’ll bond it securely in place so you can enjoy your fully restored smile.

The Benefits of CEREC Crowns vs. Traditional Crowns

CEREC dental crowns offer several advantages that make the process quicker and more streamlined:

  • Same-Day Completion: Your crown is designed, created, and placed in just one visit, so you don’t need multiple appointments or a temporary crown.
  • Digital Scanning: We use quick, clean digital impressions instead of dental putty material, making the experience more comfortable as well as providing greater precision with the results.
  • Overall Value: Even with advanced technology, CEREC crowns are generally comparable in cost to traditional options, and completing treatment in a single visit can help reduce additional time and extra fees from multiple visits.
