Full Mouth Reconstruction

If you are experiencing several difficult issues with your oral health and your smile, such as tooth loss, decaying teeth, gum issues, TMJ, and more, you may be a candidate for full mouth reconstruction. These issues can severely damage your quality of life, limiting what you eat, and how you speak, and changing how you feel about yourself.

Our office is here to restore your smile’s aesthetics and functionality with one treatment plan.

Full mouth reconstruction addresses issues such as malocclusion, missing teeth, and periodontal disease. Dr. Mazhari has the experience and training to restore your dental health and address cosmetic concerns, creating a treatment plan just for you.

What Is a Full Mouth Reconstruction?

A full mouth reconstruction, or rehabilitation, is the terminology for a combination of dental treatments that address multiple concerns simultaneously. Each treatment plan is unique for the patients that come in.

Getting a new smile through full rehabilitation is often a life-changing experience for patients, enabling them to regain their quality of life and their sense of self-confidence. In many cases, this process can help patients to keep as many of their natural teeth as possible, avoiding the need for full dentures.

This treatment approach often treats a bite problem that is exacerbated by other concerns such as missing teeth, damaged teeth, or tooth discoloration.

To help you achieve a smile that is both healthy and beautiful, Dr. Mazhari will create a personal treatment plan that includes both restorative and cosmetic procedures such as dental implants, Invisalign®, veneers, and/or teeth whitening.

Returning Functionality and Confidence

One of Dr. Mazhari’s main goals with reconstruction is to return functionality to your smile. This treatment plan can rectify anything from small discomforts to constant pain. It can also treat:

Many of these issues are interconnected, so treating one concern may alleviate others. TMJ pain and sleep apnea can be caused by a misaligned bite, which is why we often work on bite correction before any smaller treatments.

One important part of a full mouth restoration or reconstruction is returning your smile. With a personalized treatment plan, you can confidently smile in pictures and while speaking. Your cosmetic goals are part of our goals for your smile. We will work with you to rectify gaps, discoloration, and damaged teeth, so you can love your smile once again.

Benefits of a Full Mouth Rehabilitation

There are many benefits to choosing a full mouth rehabilitation instead of treating your concerns one by one, or not at all. Come to Alexandria Dental Health and Smile Studio to receive all of the benefits of a new smile.

Our smile studio will take into consideration both your oral health and cosmetic goals for your new smile, leaving you with a result you are truly satisfied with. We offer a mix of oral health and cosmetic-focused treatments, allowing our team to accommodate both goals.

Comprehensive Approach to Your Smile Makeover

A full mouth rehabilitation will take into consideration underlying issues, and seek to treat things permanently. This may not be the case if you decide to treat issues one by one or as they occur. Many issues, like misaligned smiles, can cause TMJ and toothaches. Rehabilitation can treat one, resolving the other.

Streamlined and Efficient Treatment Planning

Creating a cohesive plan for your treatment using our Smile Design software allows us to be efficient with your full mouth rehabilitation. Getting singular treatments often takes longer than participating in a plan that works with your schedule.

A singular plan also ensures that things are done in the most helpful order. Gum disease treatment must happen before orthodontic work or cosmetic work, and if necessary, bone grafts must be done before implants. Receiving all of your treatments from one singular dentist allows you to form a relationship and be comfortable at Alexandria Dental Health and Smile Studio.

Having one plan that addresses cosmetic and dental health concerns simultaneously can be cost-effective and save you time. We work around your schedule and timeline. Singular treatments may not be able to do that as easily for you.

Create one cohesive strategy for turning your smile from something you struggle with or are ashamed of to something you want to show off, with Alexandria Dental Health and Smile Studio.

Diagnostic Wax-up

Our Process

Dr. Mazhari will begin your treatment with a consultation in our Alexandria dental office. She will thoroughly evaluate all aspects of your dental health, including an analysis of your jaw function using the K7 evaluation system.

She will take time to discuss your concerns and goals to be considered in your treatment planning. The amount of dental treatments or procedures necessary to achieve your goals will depend on your unique dental problems and desired cosmetic results.

The next step will be a diagnostic visit to take digital x-rays, scans, and impressions to be used in your treatment. If periodontal disease is an issue, this may be addressed first to restore gum health and create a stable environment for new dental restorations.

Before we focus on placing implants or fixing cosmetic issues, we will address any potential gum health concerns and alignment issues. We will suggest things like Invisalign or gum lifting as the first steps if necessary.

Customizing Your Smile

Because full mouth reconstruction is different for each person, it allows us to customize your smile. We create results that will be flattering to your face shape and can revitalize facial sagging or fine lines.

Using smile design software, you can see your smile before treatment and make adjustments that fit your goals and exact needs. Our consultation and diagnostic appointments center around preparing a plan just for you and your oral health and cosmetic concerns.

Customizing the specific treatments we recommend also ensures that the root of your oral health concerns will be addressed, not just the cosmetic aspects. We will also be able to work within your budget as we customize your new smile.

Options for Every Smile

Our plans for full mouth rehabilitation or reconstruction vary based on your individual needs and goals. Dr. Mazhari will work with you to create a treatment plan and schedule that suits your budget and your busy daily routine. Treatment options for a full mouth reconstruction can include:

Dr. Mazhari takes the treatment of oral health seriously and will ensure that all cosmetic treatments will also further help your oral health.

Each treatment we offer serves a different purpose for our patients, which is why we offer so many options. We can treat a diverse amount of cases and issues with our variety of treatments in full mouth reconstruction.

Invisalign

Invisalign utilizes clear aligners to slowly shift teeth, eliminating gaps, fixing misaligned jaws, and straightening smiles. This is a versatile and discreet treatment that lasts anywhere between six months and two years. You remove Invisalign to eat, and it does not affect how you speak, making this a perfect option for quick straightening for adults.

Invisalign can only be done if you do not have decaying teeth or gum disease. We will treat those first before suggesting Invisalign.

Gum Lifting and Periodontal Treatments

When you visit our Alexandria office for a consultation and exam, one of the first things we evaluate is your gum health. If you have gums that are overgrown or you are fighting periodontal disease we provide both gum lifting and periodontal treatments that can prevent periodontitis.

If your gums are unhealthy we will wait for further restorative treatment until your periodontal disease has been mitigated.

Dental Crowns

Our dental studio offers same-day crowns using CEREC milling technology. If you need a crown in one visit, call us today.

Crowns are porcelain or ceramic caps for a damaged tooth that has a healthy root. If you have a tooth or several teeth that have dental trauma or past infection, crowns can restore their strength and aesthetics while keeping the tooth underneath healthy.

Dental Bonding

Dr. Mazhari utilizes dental bonding for small chips and cracks. It is placed over the tooth or to fill the chip and appears like part of your natural tooth. We use a durable bonding that is tooth-colored, creating a new look for one or many teeth.

Dental bonding can also be used to test the appearance of veneers or other cosmetic alterations because it can be removed safely and quickly with the help of a dentist.

Dental Veneers

Veneers are similar to crowns, but instead of a cap for the tooth, they are bonded to the front of your tooth. They are used as cosmetic solutions and can help strengthen a tooth that is cracked. Veneers are a cost-effective solution to a damaged tooth or smile that needs a new look.

Dental Implants

Implants are used to replace an entire missing tooth. They are placed in your jawbone and support either a crown or an entire arch replacement. Having a tooth replaced is essential to keeping your jawbone healthy, and will help your smile be full again.

Dental Bridges

Bridges also replace a tooth, by using crowns on either side of the missing tooth and filling the gap with a full tooth. Bridges also work best if you have a healthy and present tooth root, or else you risk jaw bone decay.

Our Technology and Smile Design

Our office embraces relevant dental technology, as it makes the patient experience better and allows Dr. Mazhari to create smiles with more precision.

We utilize advanced technology, allowing us to:

CEREC crowns and scans, as well as iTero diagnostic lasers, are pieces of technology that make rehabilitation for your entire mouth easier and faster.

Dr. Mazhari believes that every patient deserves a high-quality experience, and one of the best ways to offer that is by giving you results quickly and with precision.

CEREC Crowns and Milling

CEREC technology includes a scanner and in-office milling, creating a powerful combination that reduces your chair time and increases the accuracy of the crowns and restorations we create.

The CEREC Primescan scanner will create accurate scans of your teeth and will assist us in creating the perfect crown. Crowns created with the Primescan scanner fit comfortably and naturally with your current smile, feeling like your natural tooth.

We offer same-day crowns using CEREC milling technology. Contact us for a crown in just one visit.

Diagnostic Lasers

Diagnosis is an essential part of full-mouth rehabilitation. Our iTero scanners allow us to focus on small details and give accurate diagnoses.

Taking care to address small, barely noticeable issues prevents them from turning into larger issues. We can focus on little issues that may lower the quality of your smile. You will have an impeccable smile at our dental office.

Maintaining Your Rehabilitated Smile

It is essential to maintain good oral hygiene and participate in follow-up visits as you enjoy your new smile. Maintaining good oral habits helps the treatment do its job, ensuring that your smile stays beautiful for years to come.

After your smile treatments have been finished, remember to:

If you follow our suggested care for your smile, you can expect to have your new smile for a lifetime.

The Costs of Full Mouth Rehabilitation

We will take your budget into consideration when you consult with Dr. Mazhari about your new smile. We invite you to have a basic budget in mind when you visit with us for the first time.

The cost greatly depends on selected treatments for full mouth rehabilitation. We offer more cost-effective options for those who want a new smile but are unable to pay high amounts for it. We will educate you on the benefits and drawbacks of each option, so you can make an informed decision.

FAQs

Are Mouth Reconstructions Painful?

We offer comfort dentistry as part of your mouth reconstruction. If you have dental anxiety, we are here to give you a relaxing experience.

If you are unable to participate in surgery at this time, we still have options for your new smile.

Do Rehabilitations Require Tooth Removal?

We seek to keep as many teeth in your smile as possible. If you have a tooth that is damaged, we place a crown or veneer over it instead of removing it, keeping the tooth root healthy and your jawbone strong.

If you have a tooth with severe damage or infection that is damaging your gums and surrounding teeth, we may remove it and offer to replace it with an implant.

How Long Do Dental Rehabilitations Take?

It depends on the severity of the difficulties you are experiencing. If you are missing multiple teeth, have jawbone density loss, or are suffering from extreme periodontal disease, you can expect us to treat those thoroughly before moving forward. This can make your treatment longer than simple veneers or a single implant.

Will Full Mouth Rehabilitations Change How I Speak?

Our office takes careful attention to restore speaking capabilities if you are struggling with a lisp or with whistling between your teeth. If you do not have such difficulties, you may notice a short adjustment period, but long term your speech should not be altered.

What Can I Eat After a Reconstruction?

Once your mouth has healed from any placements or treatments, you can eat regularly! We recommend avoiding crunchy foods like nuts, or incredibly sticky or gummy foods like candy.

If you receive a surgical treatment such as implants, we recommend soft foods for a couple of hours after your treatment, returning to normal foods as swelling or discomfort dissipate.
